LE PALAIS
Located on the east coast of Belle Ile, the town of Le Palais is the capital of the island.
Close to the Trion Guen campsite, the small town conceals the Vauban citadel, overlooking the surroundings.
This royal fortress built in the 16th century was once the last bulwark against piracy, Spanish and then English invasions.
The Palace has many sites and buildings linked to the historical and military past of Belle Île En Mer, a heritage that will interest history enthusiasts. You can obtain documentation from LA SOCIÉTÉ HISTORIQUE and its many publications.
You will discover the city walls during a walk of around 1h30.
